Masjid Jurana is one of the designated miqats (stations for entering the state of ihram) for pilgrims performing Umrah. It is located approximately 12 kilometers from Mecca, on the road to Taif. Pilgrims intending to perform Umrah from Mecca must enter the state of ihram at this point. The miqat marks the boundary beyond which pilgrims cannot proceed without being in the sacred state of ihram .
